SCA Tissue North America || Design Award 2004

When a worldwide paper products manufacturer needed to centralize operations in the Northeast, a 52,200 square foot addition was needed and needed fast! This 254 ton, complexity 8 was delivered the first week of May ’04 and open for business only 2 months later in mid July!

With functionality as the main focus in the design of this space, interior height requirements and bay sizes had to be met to accommodate the product being stored, as well as allow for safe forklift travel. Having to attach to a neighboring 100,000 SF American building lower in eave height, a special 40’ x 180’ “snow pit” bay was designed to handle the snow drift condition created by this towering addition.

The 45 foot bays were used to nicely accommodate the 180 foot wide building where 50 foot bar joist bays were needed longitudinally to maximize the space requirements of the Customer. The bay sizes made for an expeditious building erection helping us get the Customer on line ahead of schedule!
